The Need

Children’s teeth were cavity ridden, and it showed in their smiles. A large percentage of the adult population was missing several teeth because basic dental care was non-existent. Cavities went untreated, and when a tooth became painful, the only option was to pull it.

There was no resident dentist on Barbuda, and no clinic equipped to serve one.

From an Empty Shell to a Fully Equipped Clinic

When Bonnie Floyd Ministries first stepped into what would become the Barbuda Dental Clinic, it was nothing more than an empty shell of a building. Today, that empty shell has been completely transformed into a wonderful, fully equipped, operational dental clinic.

The interior was renovated from the ground up: walls demoed, windows repaired, countertops and cabinets installed, and every surface painted, with equipment donated through Project C.U.R.E.

Through the incredible generosity and partnership of Dr. Doug Kurtz and his dental team, every piece of equipment needed to operate the clinic was provided. And they didn’t stop there. For the past two years, Dr. Kurtz and his volunteer team have returned, treating hundreds of patients, relieving pain, restoring smiles, and building relationships with the people of Barbuda.

What began as an empty shell is now a place of healing, hope, and life changing dental care. But the need remains great.

The Need Now: Volunteer Dental Teams

But a fully equipped dental clinic WITHOUT dental professionals to fill it is still an empty clinic.

There is no resident dentist on Barbuda, so the future of this clinic depends on volunteer dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and other dental professionals willing to come and serve.

The clinic is completed.

The patients are waiting.
