I love to study words in Scripture. Many call me a word-study geek, I prefer word-study queen, but I can’t seem to get anyone to acknowledge me as such. So whether I’m a geek or a queen, words are powerful and knowing their deep-rooted meaning will bring the Scriptures ALIVE!

I frustrate myself when I don’t respond immediately to the Holy Spirit’s promptings, by forgetting or blowing it off as my own thought. One day the Lord prompted me to write a note, yes write, not type. This of course requires paper, ink, an envelope, a stamp and remembering to mail it! I knew if I didn’t write it right then I would surely forget, and I did.
From the time I was a small child, I can remember both my Mom and Grammy quoting that saying on numerous occasions. I find myself often quoting it as an adult. As I researched its origin, I found several would like to stake claim to it, from Confucius to a 1911 newspaper article quoting editor, Arthur Brisbane. Whatever the origin, it is certainly true!
